Object Detail
Brief Description
Robert Ingpen's original design of an image of England fast bowler, Frank 'Typhoon' Tyson (1930-2015). The artist's original image number - 92 - and subject's name and country, are handwritten below the design, with the pencilled years '1954-59'. A sheet of tracing paper, with grid lines and references, folds over the artwork which is signed and dated by the artist. The image is included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the MCG. In 17 Tests, Tyson took 76 wickets at an average of 18.56. In 1954/55, in devastating form, he took 7 for 27 at the MCG to prevent Australia winning the 3rd Test of the series. Injuries prevented a longer Test career.
