Object Detail
Brief Description
Robert Ingpen's original design of an image of Indian leg-spinner, Bhagwat 'Chandra' Chandrasekhar. The artist's original image number - 132 - and name of the subject and country are handwritten below the design, with a pencilled year - 1971. A sheet of tracing paper - with grid references - folds over the artwork, which is signed and dated by the artist. The image is included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the MCG. In 58 Tests (1964-1979), 'Chandra' took 242 wickets at an average of 29.74. At the MCG - in Jan 1978 - he took 8 for 52 in each innings against Australia, in India's first Test win in Australia.
