Object Detail

Brief Description
Robert Ingpen's original design of an image of Australian Rules footballer, Ian Stewart, St Kilda (as portrayed here) and Richmond centreman. The artist's original image number - 118 - and names of the subject and clubs are handwritten below the design, with the pencilled years - '65, '66. A sheet of tracing paper, with gridlines and references, folds over the artwork which is signed and dated by the artist. The image is included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the MCG. Stewart played 127 games for St Kilda, winning the Brownlow Medal in 1965 and 1966; and 78 games for Richmond, receiving his third Brownlow in 1971.
