Brief Description
Robert Ingpen's depiction of the Papal Coat-of-Arms, representing a visit to Melbourne by Pope John Paul II, who led an Ecumenical Service at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, attended by more than 60,000 people. The artist's original image number (155) and notes are handwritten above and below the design. A sheet of tracing paper, with grid lines and references, folds over the artwork. The image is included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the MCG.
