Brief Description
Robert Ingpen's original design of an image of Australian batsman, Kim Hughes. The artist's original image number (149) and subject's name and country are handwritten below the design. A sheet of tracing paper, with grid lines and references, folds over the artwork which has been signed and dated by the artist. The image is included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Hughes made 4,415 runs for Australia - including 9 centuries - at an average of 37.41 during 70 Tests. One of his finest innings was at the MCG against the West Indies pace attack in the Boxing Day Test in 1981, when he scored 100 not out (of 198) on a difficult pitch.
