Object Detail
Brief Description
Robert Ingpen's original design of an image of West Indian batsman, Viv Richards. The artist's original image number - 145 - and subject's name and team are handwritten below the design, with pencilled dates '1974-1987' (sic,1991). A sheet of tracing paper, with grid references, folds over the artwork which has been signed and dated by the artist. The image is included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Richards, one of Wisden's Five Cricketers of the 20th Century, made 8,540 runs - including 24 centuries - at an average of 50.23, and took 122 catches during 121 Tests.
