Brief Description
White cotton handkerchief printed with an elaborate design which celebrates the career of English batsman Jack Hobbs. The design includes five photograph images of Hobbs set in roundels at each corner and one in the centre. He is shown playing different batting strokes, each of them labelled. Above the central image is a banner that reads "ENGLAND'S CHAMPION BATSMAN / J.B. HOBBS / SURREY & ENGLAND XI". Hobbs' statistics are given in text boxes on either side of the central image. The design's border consists of lozenge-shaped boxes which detail 98 centuries that Jack Hobbs scored (up until the year 1922). The handkerchief is mounted on fabric and housed behind white card. Exhibition label and description of photo attached to reverse.
