Brief Description
Watercolour painting on cartridge paper of a group of women playing cricket. Eleven women are shown - two batting, one bowling and the others fielding. All wear long dresses and hats. There is also a bearded man who stands in the foreground smoking. The picture is set in a rural landscape, and a small building, perhaps a chapel, is beyond the field of play. The painting is titled "A Ladies' Match" in the top-right corner, and the artist's (blurred) initials signature is at the bottom-right; the signature could be 'L H S'. Verso the number '59' written in red crayon.
