Object Detail

Brief Description
Presentation pack containing two stamps, released to celebrate the centenary of the Sheffield Shield, 1992. The item consists of folded card printed on the front with a colour photo of cricket memorabilia, on the reverse with a brief history of the Sheffield Shield competition, and on the inside with a nineteenth-century photo of cricket spectators. Contained behind a plastic window are two stamps, illustrated in colour with consecutive scenes from a cricket match. The stamp valued at 45c shows a bowler, fielder, umpire and batsman backing up, and a grandstand in the background. The $1.20 stamp shows the same match from an angle behind the batsman who is facing the bowler, with wicket keeper behind and three fielders on the off side.
