Brief Description
The torch comprises of two ribbed aluminium cylinders and a wooden handle in between, with brass rings interspersed along the length of the torch, with a stemmed brass cap at the base. The ribbing in the upper aluminium section separates and opens out slightly.These "reeds", represent the 22 cities who had hosted a modern Olympic Games.The flame mechanism features inside, through the opening. The upper brass band features a geometric, and a naturalistic floral design, with the twice repeated Atlanta Olympics logo, with the inscription: 'Atlanta 1996'. The lower brass band features an engraving of all the names and locations of the modern Olympic game inclusive of Atlanta.
