Brief Description
Etching which depicts an 18th century cricket game. The bat being used resembles a hockey stick and the stumps consist of two upright pieces of wood and a crossbar. Printed below the image is title, "CRICKET / Printed & Sold by Tho. Bowles in St. Paul's Church Yard & Jon Bowles at ye Black Horse, Cornhill." Either side of the inscription is a poem. Directly under the lower RH corner of the image is printed text, "Benoist Sculpt. after the Painting in Vauxhall Garden." The plate mark from the printing process is visible on the paper.
