Object Detail

Brief Description
Clipping shows a large image of five men with hats on horseback, each carrying a cricket bat or bag. Clipping has strips of paper on the reverse to strengthen it, and has been fixed into a hinged windowmount with archival tape. Underneath the image is printed an explanatory text with the title printed in capitals, "Cricket In Australia: A Team Going Up Country To Play A Match". The explanatory text reads, "An up-country cricket-match usually takes place on a Saturday, when one township will muster an eleven to play another, or two townships combined. The team go to the match on horseback - for the Australian rides everywhere, and will, it is said, go a mile to fetch his horse to ride only one mile."
