Object Detail

Brief Description
Cast iron rectangular table base painted white. Two side sections (that act as legs) screwed to the table's surface and a bar at the base of the legs braces them to each other and provides further support. The legs are identical and both feature an oval high relief portrait of W G Grace wearing a cap. Beneath this relief in the middle section of each leg is second high relief cast depicting a scene of sports related items including a penny farthing bicycle, cricket wickets, two tennis racquets, two overlaying cricket bats with a leather panelled round ball (possibly used in tunnel ball?) with some tennis and/or cricket balls in the foreground. There is no tabletop for this piece. Registration mark to table cast into brace reads, "RD No. 154345.36", and second number found at right underside reads, "R.N. 175249".
