Object Detail

Brief Description
Large drum with abstract African designs on both sides, prop for the Opening Ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. The drum is made of a lightweight, possibly polystyrene base, with wood-design contact around the edges, and covered on both flat sides with an orange tye-tied material with bold black painted designs. The pieces of material are glued to the base and linked together on the sides with rope in a zig-zag pattern. A woven plant-material strap for suspending the drum around the carrier's neck is bolted onto the sides.
