Object Detail

Brief Description
Two olive wreathes, presented to Petria Thomas at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games (it is not known for which events she was awarded these wreathes). Thomas was the female star of the pool in these Games, winning the gold medal in the women's 100 metres butterfly; silver in the women's 200 metres butterfly; and gold medals in the 4x100 metres freestyle and medley relays. After years of playing second fiddle to the Australian men swimmers, these were the Games that the Australian women came in from the cold.
