Brief Description
Rectangular paper document with dark ink handwriting, and a smaller piece of paper adhered in the centre. The page is the second of two pages relating the lyrics to THE CRICKET SONG. A second piece of paper is adhered to the bottom, which is a clipping showing the results of a cricket match between Hambledon and England. The type-written label at the bottom reads CRICKET SONG IN WRITING OF REVEREND JOHN AWBERY, RECTOR OF STRATHFIELD SAYE AND TURGIS, FELLOW OF WINCHESTER COLLEGE. BAPTISED 1720 AT READING, DIED SEPTEMBER 1775 AGED 55. THE VERSES REFER TO THE HAMBLEDON CRICKET CLUB. In pencil on the back is SHEET IV / 2.
