Brief Description
Small, white, rectangular portrait-format card featuring on front a colour full-length portrait of Australian Rules Football player Charles Young holding a brown football. Young wears the red and navy Melbourne Football Club uniform of the day which consists of a sleeveless, collarless guernsey which buttons up the front, black knee-length pants, red knee-length socks to match the guernsey, and ankle-high black lace-up boots. Young is shown standing on a green field with blue sky behind. Printed in blue on the thick white border beneath the picture is his name, as C. YOUNG. Reverse features a fancy full-length advertisement for STANDARD cigarettes, printed in blue. This card was issued by Sniders & Abrahams in packets of Standard Cigarettes as one of a series of 74 unnumbered cards of Australian footballers of 1904, of which 24 had blue frame lines around the portrait and 50 didn't, this card has the frame design.
