Brief Description
Presentation case, plastic, hinged and sprung, to house the gold medal won by Shirley Strickland at the XVIth Olympiad in Melbourne, 1956, for first place in the 80 metre hurdles. The case is cream- coloured, with rounded edges, and a raised circle on the lid. Inside of lid is cushioned silken material with the name of the manufacturer printed in gold, base is a stiff dark maroon felt bed with a depression, and ribbon for removal of the medal. A small broken-off piece has been given the number 2003.3903.1284.3.
