Black and white photograph of Shirley Strickland about to cross the tape in a race, ahead of three other visible competitors, the rightmost of whom has a pained expression on her face. Shirley wears a light sleeveless top with a black swan badge, dark shorts with a stripe, and dark spikes. Large red " 'TRUTH' AND 'DAILY MIRROR' "stamp on reverse, above "Brisbane 1956" in black ink.
