Brief Description
Black and white photograph of the finish of the 100m race in Warsaw, showing Shirley Strickland in the lead, left arm raised. She wears a light sleeveless top with a lace-up number "1" bib over the top, dark shorts with a stripe, and dark running spikes. The photo shows all 6 competitors, and includes the lane numbers up to '3', with Shirley indicated by a white arrow painted onto the emulsion, with a small label stuck next to it which reads "WINNING 100/ METRES IN/ 11.3 Sec.". Faintly typewritten on reverse is the date 5. VIII.1955, and a description of the event, in Polish. A purple "R.S.W. PRASA" stamp is on the reverse.
