Brief Description
Commemorative bronze medal minted to honour Ron Clarke, featuring on the obverse a relief dexter bust of Clarke with an inscription around the perimeter which reads, "ATHLETICS INTERNATIONAL / RON CLARKE", and the designer's mark to the lower right of his head. Reverse features an incuse impression of a runner, over which has been inscribed in relief the dates, events and times of the eighteen official world records achieved by Ron Clarke during his career. Minter STOKES MELBOURNE and designer ANDOR MESZARES inscribed at bottom; plain edge. Square green leatherette medal box. Hinges at back, opens by lifting to almost 90 degrees. Velvet-lined base and white sateen lining in lid, imprinted in gold lettering with name of manufacturer, "STOKES (A'ASIA) LTD. / MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA / ESTB. 1856". Includes yellow-orange piece of paper featuring information and pictures in black ink about the commemorative bronze medal minted to honour Ron Clarke, with details about the edition sizes and an application form section at the bottom. The paper was originally folded and stored inside the medal case on top of the medal.
