Brief Description
Twenty-three manila folders, compiled between the years 1957-1962, containing letters, minutes, reports, invoices, and receipts composed by, addressed to, and associated with John E.M. "Jack" Ellis, the Secretary of the Australian Baseball Council and Victorian Baseball Association. Specific topics of interest contained in these archives include: the desire for affiliation by the A.B.C. with the Australian Olympic Federation and the National Baseball Congress (U.S.A.); the desire to promote young Australian baseballers/cricketers to U.S. Major League clubs, which would help the prestige of baseball in Australia; and, the desire to bring out U.S. Major League teams or an All-Star team to Australia for exhibition matches promoting baseball. Information regarding local competitions, and the domestic Claxton Shield intra-state competition also feature in this archive.
