Brief Description
Silver-coloured medal awarded to Shirley Strickland for first place in the 440yds, run in 59.4 seconds on 26 January, 1952, at the Australian Track and Field Championships. The medal features a central shield engraved with the event details, surrounded by the shields of Australia's six states linked by a laurel wreath. Inscribed at bottom is STOKES and STG SIL. On the reverse is the emblem of the Australian Womens Amateur Athletic Union, surrounded by their name.
