Black and white photograph showing Shirley Strickland posed smiling, about to board a bus, wearing a dark blazer with a light stripe at cuffs and pocket, and a white shirt and light skirt. White marks and pencil lines have been drawn onto the photo, to indicate an area to be cropped. A purple 'Daily Telegraph' stamp is on the reverse, along with a small adhered newspaper clipping, which reads "CHAMPION athlete Shirley Strickland boarding an/ airways bus at Rose Bay after her arrival last night/ from New Zealand".
