Brief Description
2nd Place Medal awarded to Shirley Strickland in the Women's 100 metres at the International Centennial Games in Canterbury, New Zealand. The obverse features three debossed figures - man, woman and child - in the foreground, and sea and sail ships in the background. Debossed print reads 'THE ARRIVAL AT LYTTLETON 1850'. Debossed printing on the reverse reads 'CANTERBURY (N.Z.) CENTENARY' and, within a circular shape on the lower edge ,'1850 1950'. The medal is engraved 'S.STRICKLAND/2nd 100 METRES. WOMEN/30-12-50'.
