Brief Description
Presentation case to house the gold medal won by Shirley Strickland at the British Empire Games in New Zealand, 1950, for first place in the Women's 80 metres hurdles. Case is flat, blue, with corners, with BRITISH EMPIRE GAMES/ NEW ZEALAND/ AUCKLAND/ 1950 embossed in gold on the lid, along with a feathered foot logo. Inside of case is cushioned silken material; base is a stiff silken bed with a slight depression for the medal. A thin ribbon (torn) once acted as a hinge between the lid and base.
