Brief Description
Silver medal awarded to Shirley Strickland for 2nd place in the 4x100m relay at the 1948 London Olympic Games. Strickland also won at these Olympics a bronze medal in the 100m and bronze in the 80m hurdles.
Debossed on the obverse of the medal is 'XIVTH/ OLYMPIAD/ LONDON/ 1948', next to an image of a lady cradling a sheaf of wheat, holding a laurel wreath above her head. The reverse features an image of a naked young man being hoisted on the shoulders of a crowd of other young men.
