Brief Description
Black and white photograph of Shirley Strickland (athlete) running across the finish line of the 200 metres semi- final, in a 'dead heat' with Audrey Williamson (British athlete). Shirley wears a white sleeveless top with the number 668 (obscured), white shorts with double dark stripe, and dark shoes. The runner next to Shirley, Daphne Robb-Hasenjager (South Africa) wears the number 905. A black stamp is on the reverse, reads, "OLYMPIC PHOTO ASSOCIATION, 1948", along with handwritten inscription, reads, in part, "200M DEAD HEAT (HEATS) / SEMI FINAL THURS. AUG 5TH / 1 STRICKLAND 668 / WILLIAMSON (GB)723 24.9 SEC".
