Object Detail
Brief Description
Black and white photograph taken during the Women's 80 Metres Hurdles final at the Olympic Games, London, 1948, showing three runners approaching the finishing line, with three backmarkers behind. The photograph has been taken from a high vantage point with the camera moving at the same speed, resulting in a blurred background and distorted legs. The three front runners from bottom of frame to top are Shirley Strickland, Maureen Gardner and Fanny Blankers-Koen. Strickland won Bronze. On the reverse is handwritten text in blue ink, and the stamp of the Olympic Photo Association.
