Brief Description
Baseball with an engraved circular silver shield mounted onto it. Inscription reads: 5.7.97./AUS. v W.NEW YORK/30 TO 20/WON BY AUS.'. The Australian Baseball Team, captained by Frank Laver (Australian cricketer and baseballer), toured the United States from April - July 1897, in what proved to be a financially disastrous, if moderately successful-performance wise- tour.
