Brief Description
A large commemorative boxing banner, made of paint on canvas, with vulcanised rubber back, and a green pole (with rope attached to each end), fed through the top edge, which is looped, for suspension. Inscription: HARRY JOHNS ON PARADE/WORLD'S HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP/FOUGHT AT THE YANKEE STADIUM N.Y./AUG. 30TH 1937/TOMMY FARR/THE WELSH COALMINER/JOE LOUIS/THE BROWN BOMBER/WON BY JOE LOUIS ON POINTS/AFTER 15 ROUNDS. An image of Farr (Wales/U.K.) and Louis (United States) facing one another posed to strike features in the banner, with a U.K. and U.S.A. flag draped at Farr's and Louis' side, respectively.
