Object Detail

Brief Description
Framed black and white team portrait photograph of a Melbourne Cricket Club team taken at Lorne, Victoria circa 1902. Front of frame appears to made from a white padded leatherette with four small river/harbour-scape scenes in cameo-like frames incised into leather on each of the sides. Photographer is unknown. The cardboard backing features handwritten script in pencil. Inscription in part: "Lorne/Easter 19(?)"; and "1902". On the paper lining above is a team roll, written in pencil. Decipherable names include: "Dunlop", "Hopkins","Dodge", and, "Keogh". At the bottom of the back, written in biro, is the inscription: "M.C.C. team/about 1903". This was probably written at a later date than the writing on the cardboard, due to the uncontrolled script, which probably indicates the hand of an elderly person. So, the 1902 date seems more feasible.
