Object Detail
Brief Description
Original Robert Ingpen watercolour depicting Australian fast bowler (and Australian Rules footballer), Edgar Arthur "Ted" McDonald (1891-1937). The artist's image number - 42 - and subject's name, country, and football club - Fitzroy - are handwritten below the design, with a pencilled date '1922'. A sheet of tracing paper, with grid lines and references, folds over the artwork which is signed and dated by the artist. The image is included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the MCG. McDonald played 11 Tests for Australia (1920/21-1921/22) taking 43 wickets with a best of 5 for 32. He played for the Essendon (1912) and Fitzroy (1913, 1915-19) Football Clubs, and was a premiership player (1916).
