Object Detail
Brief Description
Robert Ingpen's original design of an image of Indian cricketer, Kumar Sri Ranjitsinhji (1872-1933). The artist's original image number - 30 - and subject's name are handwritten in ink below the design, and a list - of players, runs and dates - headed 'MCG centuries is handwritten in pencil to the left of the image. A sheet of tracing paper, with grid lines and references, folds over the artwork which is signed and dated by the artist. Kanji's image is included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the Melbourne Cricket Ground. He played Test cricket for England, and made 24,692 first-class runs at an average of 56.37.
