Object Detail
Brief Description
Robert Ingpen's original design of an image of two figures, John "Jack" Worrall (1860-1937), an Australian Rules footballer - at Fitzroy Football Club, and premiership coach at Essendon and Carlton football clubs - and Australian Test cricketer; and champion Essendon footballer, Albert Thurgood (1874-1927). The image is included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The artist's original figure numbers - 25 and 26 - and subject's names, clubs, and dates are handwritten below the design. A sheet of tracing paper, with the grid references for the layout of the tapestry, folds over the artwork which is signed and dated by the artist.
