Object Detail
Brief Description
Robert Ingpen's original design of an image of two Australian Test batsmen, William Lloyd "Billy" Murdoch (1854-1911), and "the Colonial Hercules", George John Bonnor (1855-1912), included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The names of the figures, and the artist's original numbers - 18 and 19 - are handwritten in ink below the design. A sheet of tracing paper, with the grid lines and references for the layout of the tapestry, folds over the artwork which is signed and dated by the artist.
