Brief Description
Robert Ingpen's original design of an image of the first football game played under lights in 1879, included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The artist's original image number -12 - title, and teams 'MELB v CARL' are handwritten below the design. A sheet of tracing paper, with the grid lines and references for the layout of the tapestry, folds over the artwork which is signed and dated by the artist. [Note that Dunstan identifies the playing teams as Collingwood Artillery and East Melbourne.]
