Brief Description
Silver medal awarded to Winsome Cripps in the women's 100 yards running event at the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Vancouver. The boxed silver medal features a female figure seated behind a coat-of-arms shield and holding up a small wreath. A vine of maple-shaped leaves creeps behind the figure and a mountain range is seen in the distance. Engraved text reads, "ATHLETICS / WOMEN / 100 YDS / WINSOME CRIPPS". The reverse features a crown, the year, and inscription, "BRITISH EMPIRE / AND / COMMONWEALTH / GAMES / VANCOUVER / CANADA", surrounded by a rectangular-link chain. The medal is housed in its original box.
