Brief Description
Medal awarded to Winsome Cripps as a member of the first-placed Australian women's 4x100 yards relay at the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Vancouver. The boxed bronze medal features a female figure seated behind a coat-of-arms shield and holding up a small wreath. A vine of maple-shaped leaves creeps behind the figure and a mountain range is seen in the distance. Lettering reads, "ATHLETICS / WOMEN / RELAY 4x110 YDS / WINSOME CRIPPS". The reverse features a crown, the year, and lettering, "BRITISH EMPIRE / AND / COMMONWEALTH / GAMES / VANCOUVER / CANADA", surrounded by a rectangular-link chain. The medal is housed in its original box.
