Brief Description
A document featuring a map of Australia, depicting airline routes around the Country, as well as the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games olympic torch relay route. Arrival and departure dates for the relay during it's course down the east coast of Australia are given. A large inset features a map of the Ballarat CBD, highlighting the relay route through the city, but also event sites, places of interest, and, 'Caltex' service stations. The other side of the document features an official programme for the 1956 Olympic Games, as well as information regarding the history of Australia's involvement in Olympic Rowing and Canoeing, and, site and event details for these sports, which were held at Lake Wendouree, Ballarat. Document entitled: 'XVITH/OLYMPIAD/ROWING AND CANOEING EVENTS/BALLAARAT (sic.)/VICTORIA * AUSTRALIA/Nov. 23rd - Dec. 1st.'.
