Object Detail
Brief Description
Oval shaped, metal badge with clasp on the reverse. Badge features one red and one blue enamel stripe on the front. It also contains some white coloured enamel lettering. Badge reads, "MELBOURNE / TRUSTEE / CRICKET GROUND". Badge was issued to Sir Robert Menzies whilst he was a trustee of the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Menzies was Prime Minister of Australia during the mid-20th century. Badge was manufactured by K. C. Luke, but accompanying box has printed gold-coloured lettering reading, "STOKES & SONS Pty. Ltd. / BADGE MAKERS AND / MEDALLISTS / MELBOURNE". Box thus did not originally house badge.
