Brief Description
An illustrated page (p.865 / 866) from the November 1, 1879 edition of 'Harper's Weekly' magazine which has been ripped out of the publication and mounted behind cream-coloured card. The engraved image shows a cricket match being played, with one of the batsmen being bowled out by an underarm delivery. In the background are stands crowded with spectators. Two flags, one of them the Stars and Stripes, are flying from flagpoles. A caption below the image reads "THE INTERNATIONAL CRICKET MATCH AT PHILADELPHIA - Drawn by S.G. McCutcheon - [See Page 874.]" On the reverse of the page are unrelated articles. On the back of the mount is a vendor's sticker.
