Object Detail

Brief Description
Part of an illustrated page (p.163/164) from the 27th December 1873 edition of the Australasian Sketcher magazine, cropped and mounted behind cream-coloured card. The engraved image shows cricketers practicing in the nets, with a bowler in the foreground and a batsman with spectators in the background. The scene is set on a cricket field, with a fence and pavilion (perhaps the Melbourne Cricket Club) in the distance. Below the image is a caption that reads "PRACTICING FOR THE ALL ENGLAND MATCH". On the reverse of the page are several unrelated articles, and on the back of the mount is a vendor's sticker.
