Brief Description
Black and white photograph featuring ceramic bowl. Believed to be a porcelain copy of the Caishaeton (sic) Bowl. Depicts cricket scene framed by wreath of leaves. Stated to be after the original painting, "Cricket in the Artillery Ground" (1743). Rim design is a chain of leaves similar to grape or fig leaves. Initials, "JD or SD 1796" painted beneath scene. On back in ink is text, "Porcelain copy of the Caishaeton Bowl (Wedgwood 1796) R. Wilson Collection". Stamps on reverse for Marylebone Cricket Club and photographer, Wallace Heaton Ltd, with negative number, MCC637A. Writing on reverse reads, "3B".
