Brief Description
Black and white photograph of a fireplace featuring tiles depicting cricketers and cricket bat positions. On the mantle of the fireplace is an early cricket bat mounted in a showcase. The fireplace is situated in the Lords Library. The tiles depict round arm bowling and batting positions around 1840 in England. The cricket bat is hockey style and is typical of bats used from around 1783. These bats weighed around 5 lbs. Writing on reverse reads, "MCC320" and "5F". It also includes "Marylebone Cricket Club" stamp. Item has "M2313" crossed out on reverse.
