Brief Description
Photographic reproduction of a nineteenth-century lithograph. The image depicts "the Eleven of New England", and commemorates a cricket match at Boston, Massachusetts, USA on 28 September, 1850. Sixteen men are shown; five wear suits and top hats; the remainder wear American cricket clothing. Below the image is inscribed, "THE ELEVEN OF NEW ENGLAND / CRICKET MATCH AT BOSTON SEPTR. 26th 1850. / Drawn and lithographed by J. H. Bufford, Boston". Names of the subjects are printed below the image. On reverse, a "MARYLEBONE CRICKET CLUB" stamp. Handwritten on reverse are inscriptions, "6C" and "MCC217".
