Brief Description
White ceramic plate from the Royal Doulton "Black Cricketers" series. A green foliage border surrounds the rim, inside of which is featured a caricature of a boy in a wide brim hat, long white jacket and red top, holding a cricket bat in his left hand and with his right hand in his pocket, with an inscription beneath reading "The Boss". Believed to have been made pre-1940. The Royal Doulton crest is printed on the reverse.
