Brief Description
White ceramic saucer from the Royal Doulton "Black Cricketers" series. A green foliage border surrounds the rim of the plate, inside of which is featured a caricature of a boy in a wide brim hat, red waistcoat, blue and white polka-dot shirt, fawn pants, white stockings and blue shoes, standing side-on to the viewer and crouching with hands out ready to catch the ball. An inscription painted beneath reads "Ready for chances". Believed to have been made pre-1940. The Royal Doulton crest is printed on the reverse., Writing on reverse reads, "Royal Doulton England / Copyright", and "E4336y".
