Brief Description
White ceramic plate from the Royal Doulton "Black Cricketers" series. A green foliage border surrounds the rim of the plate, inside of which is featured a caricature of a boy in a wide brim hat, red waistcoat, polka-dot shirt, fawn pants and blue shoes, holding a cricket bat and walking forlornly away from a stumped wicket, with the inscription beneath "I Wasn't ready". Believed to have been made pre-1940. The Royal Doulton crest is printed on the reverse.
