Brief Description
Cream card. Full body portraits of 4 cricketers in different positions of action. Fuller Pilch is batting, William Lillywhite and James Cobbett are bowling and Thomas Box is wicket keeping. All wearing top hats, 3 wearing bow ties, all wearing black shoes, white tops and pants. Title printed l.c. states "Benjamin Aislabie, Esqre,, the zealous Supporter of the Noble Game of Cricket, these Sketches of Celebrated Players,are by permission [?] most respectfully dedicated by his obliged and obedient servant, W.H. Mason". Immediately below printed "... Lord's Cricket Ground: Ackermann & Co, Strand; Tilt & Bogue, Fleet St. and Reeves & Sons, Cheapside". Details below the images of the 4 individual cricketers are as follows: "Fuller Pilch/ Born March 17th 1803 at Horningtoft, Norfolk/ Published by W.H.
